Expanded graphite packing, also known as flexible graphite packing, is manufactured by braiding flexible graphite yarn using a core-insertion technique. It is a high-performance industrial sealing material produced primarily from pure graphite, widely utilized for both dynamic and static sealing applications in harsh operating environments characterized by high temperatures, high pressures, and strong corrosive media.
Expanded graphite packing offers numerous advantages, including excellent self-lubricating and thermal conductivity properties, a low coefficient of friction, strong versatility, superior flexibility, and high mechanical strength; furthermore, it serves to protect the shaft or rod against wear. Depending on specific application requirements, the packing can be reinforced with materials such as carbon fiber, 304 or 316L stainless steel wire, or Inconel alloy wire. Upon customer request, the packing can also be compression-molded into reinforced graphite packing rings-for instance, the ZD-RP1100 graphite packing ring.
Key Features1. High-Temperature Resistance:
Operable within a temperature range of -200°C to 800°C; capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1650°C in non-oxidizing environments.
2. High-Pressure Resistance:
Capable of withstanding pressures up to 45 MPa (approx. 450 bar), making it suitable for use in equipment such as valves, pumps, and reactors.
3. Chemical Stability:
Resistant to most strong acids, strong bases, organic solvents, oils, steam, and other media; not suitable for use with strong oxidizing agents such as concentrated nitric acid or aqua regia.
4. Self-Lubricating Properties:
Features a low coefficient of friction, which protects shafts, minimizes wear, and makes it ideal for dynamic sealing applications.
5. Environmental Safety:
Asbestos-free, non-toxic, and non-polluting; complies with the hygiene and safety standards of industries such as food processing and pharmaceuticals.
