I. Water-based Mold Release Agents

Water-based mold release agents utilize water as the medium and are primarily composed of the following ingredients:


Surfactants: One of the key components, surfactants improve the wettability of the coating surface and reduce drying time; common examples include sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate and polyoxyethylene stearate.


Defoamers: Added to prevent foam formation in the coating, common defoamers include silicone oil and polysiloxanes.


Additives: Included to enhance the stability and adhesion of the mold release agent, these include substances such as antimicrobial agents and viscosity modifiers.


II. Oil-Based Mold Release Agents

Oil-based mold release agents utilize organic solvents as carriers and are primarily composed of the following ingredients:


Solvents: A primary component, which may consist of a single organic solvent or a mixture of several (e.g., petroleum ether, kerosene, or gasoline).


Release Agents: The core functional component, providing effective release and lubrication; common ingredients include silicone oils, fluorocarbon resins, and glycerol esters.


Additives: Substances added to enhance stability and adhesion, such as antioxidants and antimicrobial agents.


III. Differences Between Water-Based and Oil-Based Mold Release Agents

Composition: Water-based agents primarily consist of water and surfactants, whereas oil-based agents are composed mainly of organic solvents and release agents.


Application Scenarios: Due to their high water content, water-based agents are suitable for applications with strict environmental standards, such as the food and pharmaceutical industries. In contrast, oil-based agents are preferred for applications demanding superior release performance and lubrication, such as metal casting and mold manufacturing.
